3) Ceiling Hygiene  -  Independent lab tests found bacteria and two genera of fungi, Rhizopus and Paecilomyces, on ceiling tiles. Both are well documented aeroallergens and opportunistic pathogens responsible for various illnesses and infections.

Solutions: Periodically sanitize your tiles with Ceiling Doctor’s exclusive process. Replace with new ceiling tiles. Periodic duct cleaning. Improve relative humidity control.
 *(Source-Armstrong  Canada Ltd., Literature)
2) Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC)  -  An NRC value of 0.60 for a new ceiling tile indicates that, on average, it will absorb 60 percent of reflected sound when used in an enclosed space such as an office. A 1996 study published by the American Society of Interior Designers found that 70 percent of office workers believe they would be more productive if noise levels were reduced.*

Solutions: Preserve the NRC of your existing acoustic ceiling by periodic cleaning with Ceiling Doctor’s unique process. Avoid coating or painting with unapproved materials that may reduce ceiling LR, NRC, fire resistance, or bond the tiles to the grid. Install new ceiling tiles with a higher NRC.
1) Light Reflectance (LR)  -  An LR value of 0.80 for a new ceiling tile indicates that 80 percent of the light striking its surface is reflected and not absorbed. The LR reading of a ceiling tile declines in direct relation to the accumulation of dust, pollution, finger-marks, etc.. Adequate light is very important to worker health and productivity. Eyestrain is the number one office health hazard reported by workers worldwide.* As well, brighter retail stores have higher sales volumes.

Solutions: Periodically clean ceiling tiles, t-bars, light lenses and walls with Ceiling Doctor’s exclusive process. Relamp existing light fixtures periodically. Improve direct and indirect lighting systems. Replace existing ceiling tiles with new ones with a higher LR value. Choose a lighter decor.

What are the most important acoustic ceiling functions to maintain, and how do they relate to the success of my business?
Can I or anyone else buy Ceiling Doctor cleaning solutions? These products are proprietary formulations exclusive to Ceiling Doctor and are designed to work best when applied with our exclusive process. They clean, brighten, and sanitize safely and effectively, without promoting resoiling. You receive outstanding, long-lasting cleaning results and lower replacement costs. There are “off-the-shelf products” containing bleach, peroxide, or enzymes that are relatively easy to obtain and cheap to apply. Unfortunately, these products may actually increase your maintenance costs because they can accelerate resoiling and aging of the tiles, as well as promote surface corrosion on the t-bars and air diffusers.

Which comes first ... ceiling cleaning or wall painting? Your Ceiling Doctor team has the equipment, skills and dedication needed to achieve an excellent result regardless of the timing. However, you can help them to help you by scheduling the ceiling cleaning before painting the walls and installing new carpets. This allows your crew the most latitude with operational equipment settings and procedures, while reducing the need for precautions such as drop sheeting and masking, thereby also significantly reducing the cost of cleaning. If new walls have already been constructed then we recommend that any fresh drywall compound near the ceiling be protected with a coat of primer.
Is there anything special about the equipment used by Ceiling Doctor? Skilled professionals like electricians, carpenters, architects, and medical doctors will tell you that the best results are achieved when using the right tool for each aspect of the work required.

Your Ceiling Doctor team is equipped with our exclusive “steam” cleaning process, products, and procedures, as well as the experience and specialized training needed to use them safely and effectively to achieve the best possible results and savings for you.
How does Ceiling Doctor service protect indoor air quality? Independent lab testing of ceiling tiles before and after Ceiling Doctor cleaning service found a better than 90 percent reduction in microbial concentrations, including fungi and bacteria. The two main genera of fungi found (and destoyed) were Rhizopus and Paecilomyces. Both are well documented aeroallergens which can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people at low airborne concentrations. Chronic exposure to moderate airborne concentrations may lead to sensitization and allergic disease in previously unaffected individuals. Also, both types of fungi are opportunistic pathogens documented in various diseases and infections.
I installed three new tiles in my ceiling and they are noticeably whiter and brighter than the existing ones. What does Ceiling Doctor recommend? Clean and sanitize the ceiling with Ceiling Doctor's exclusive process to minimize this “checkerboard” effect, however a difference in colour may persist due to the age, condition, and colour of the original tiles. Also, your experienced Ceiling Doctor crew can supply replacement tiles which match as closely as possible, and install them to blend with the original ceiling. This combined cleaning and replacement service gives you the best looking result at the lowest possible cost.

My ceiling needs cleaning and also has some minor stains, scuffs, and holes. Does your service include repairs? Fingerprints, minor nicks, scuffs, water stains, ground-in dirt around air diffusers, corrosion on metal surfaces, and holes in  t-bars can detract from an otherwise impressive cleaning result and may lead to high replacement costs. Fortunately, Ceiling Doctor also offers repairs and touch-ups that enhance the appearance of your ceiling and save you money. Tile replace-ment can be minimized by safely removing stubborn fingerprints, minor water stains and ground-in dirt, as well as by repairing small nicks and scuffs. T-bar and air diffuser replacement can be minimized by filling or capping minor holes, and by professional touch-ups and refinishing of damaged factory finishes.
